Job Summary
As a Site Engineer for our company, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects in remote areas of Tanzania. Your role is crucial in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will act as the main point of contact on-site, coordinating between various stakeholders and ensuring that all technical aspects of the project are executed efficiently.
Duties And Responsibilities
Project Planning and Management: Plan, schedule, and oversee construction activities to ensure timely completion. Develop detailed project plans and manage resources effectively.
Site Supervision: Supervise construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Inspect materials and workmanship to guarantee quality.
Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to the construction team, resolving any technical issues that arise on-site. Interpret and implement project plans, drawings, and specifications.
Coordination: Coordinate with architects, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution. Facilitate communication between different parties to address any issues or concerns promptly.
Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure high standards of construction. Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify the quality of materials and workmanship.
Health and Safety: Ensure that all health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to on-site. Promote a safe working environment and conduct safety briefings and training for the construction team.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project progress, site activities, and any changes or deviations from the original plan. Prepare and submit regular progress reports to project managers and other stakeholders.
Budget Management: Monitor project budgets and control expenses to ensure cost-effective project delivery. Identify and address any budgetary constraints or potential cost overruns.
Community Engagement: Engage with local communities to address any concerns or issues related to the construction project. Ensure that the project positively impacts the local area and its residents.
Education Other Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Site Engineer or similar role in the construction industry, preferably in remote or challenging environments.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
Excellent project management and organizational skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Fluency in English.
Willingness to travel and stay in remote areas for extended periods.
